My Stroke of insight

Jill Bolte was determined to be a scientist and learn about the human brain after witnessing her brother suffering from schizophrenia. She was teaching and researching at the Harvard medical school about the human brain and on December 10, 1996, she experienced a stroke in the left hemisphere of her brain. She witnessed her brain slowly lose its ability to process information and gradually, she lost her ability to “walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of my life.” The stoke of insight is a journal that documented the entire process of her brain’s recovery. I thought it was an unique and scary experience that Jill Bolte watched her own brain as it slowly shuts down and almost going back to the stage of an infant. It’s impressive how knowledgeable she is with the Brian in side and out but also her ability to reeducate herself and recover.
